New Construction Cleanup in Meridian

Meridian's newer subdivisions - Paramount, Bridgetower, Lochsa Falls, Settlers Bridge - are still filling in, and almost every lot in them goes through the same last step before you can hand over the keys or start landscaping: pallets, cardboard, scrap lumber, drywall offcuts, packaging foam and leftover shingles piled up at the edge of the site. Most of those neighborhoods carry HOAs with CC&Rs that expect a clean lot fast, so you don't get to let that pile sit.

That kind of mixed debris isn't curbside material. You need to load it, sort it and get it to the right facility, and in Ada County, where it goes and what that facility will take shapes how the whole job gets handled.

Why Meridian's Curbside Programs Don't Cover This

Meridian runs decent programs for residents: Trash or Treasure in spring, Recycle the Fall and the leaf drop-off at Discovery Park in autumn, Christmas tree composting in winter, and free bulky-item pickups through the city's contract with Republic Services.

None of that is built for a construction site. The bulky program is for household items, mostly furniture and appliances, and it explicitly excludes tires, boats, bathtubs, hot tubs, and construction or demolition debris.

If it came out of a house, the city or Republic can probably take it. If it came out of a build, you need a hauler set up to run mixed C&D loads to a facility that actually accepts them.

Where the Debris Actually Ends Up

Most loads out of Meridian go to one of two places. Ada County Landfill, also called Hidden Hollow, sits in the north Boise foothills off Seamans Gulch Road. The Meridian Transfer Station, run by Republic on West Franklin Road, is the closer option for a lot of in-city jobs and feeds into the same disposal system.

Both take general trash, C&D debris, yard waste, scrap metal, clean wood and concrete. Mattresses, tires and Freon-containing appliances are accepted too, each with its own handling fee. The transfer station takes large metal items and cardboard free, which adds up fast on a new build given how much packaging comes off materials and fixtures.

What neither facility takes matters just as much: out-of-county waste, hazardous material, and treated or painted wood headed for diversion instead of landfill. Loads also need to be tarped or secured before they're accepted at the scale.

What Changes the Price and the Timeline

A few things move the cost and the turnaround on a Meridian new-construction cleanup more than anything else. How much debris is actually on the lot, and how heavy it runs - framing offcuts versus a load full of concrete and tile - makes the biggest difference.

Access matters too. A gated HOA community like Bridgetower or Lochsa Falls, a tight lot in Old Town, or a driveway that isn't poured yet all change how fast a truck can get in and load out.

The mix of what's on site plays in as well. Metal, tires and Freon appliances each need their own handling, which adds steps a pile of plain wood scrap doesn't. And if the job needs a demolition permit through Meridian Building Services, or a dumpster sitting in the street needs an ACHD right-of-way permit, that's time added before the cleanup even starts.

A clean lot at handoff isn't optional in most of Meridian's newer neighborhoods, and getting there without extra runs to the transfer station comes down to sorting the load correctly from the start.
